National Stock Assessment Program (NSAP)
This program by the DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) conducts assessment of major pelagic and demersal species in major fishing grounds of the county through establishment of standardized time series and biological data by fishing ground (bays/gulfs/seas), which are fundamental to science-based fisheries management, formulation of policies, plans and strategies. This program will support SDG 14.4 which aims to effectively regulate harvesting and end overfishing, illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and destructive fishing practices and implement science-based management plans, based from their biological characteristics.
