NEDA, UNDP hold Senate exhibit on SDGs and Sustainable Consumption and Production
The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), held an exhibit on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the Senate of the Philippines. The ribbon-cutting ceremony held yesterday was led by Senator Pia S. Cayetano, NEDA Assistant Secretary Carlos Bernardo O. Abad-Santos and UNDP Country Representative Titon Mitra.
The exhibit focuses on SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and the Philippine Action Plan for Sustainable Consumption and Production (PAP4SCP). During the exhibit, NEDA advocates for #WalangSayang and “doing more and better with less” or increasing net welfare gains from economic activities by reducing resource use, degradation, and pollution along the whole lifecycle, while increasing quality of life.
The exhibit, which will be culminated by a forum on March 5, aims to raise awareness among the legislative department and their stakeholders on the needed action to promote responsible consumption and production, and achieve sustainable development.
Highlighting the need for a whole-of-government approach to achieve SDG 12, the exhibit is also participated in by the Departments of Energy, Environment and Natural Resources, and Tourism. The UNDP and Mother Earth Foundation also took part in the exhibit, as development partner and the private sector representatives.
